Indonesian picnic in the Tiergarten Park, Berlin

Sunday, 26 July 2009

WM
On Sunday, the 26th of July, the social activist group of young Indonesians attached to the al-Falah mosque in Berlin, in cooperation with some secular and other-confessional Indonesian groups, organized a picnic on a clearing in the Tiergarten Park of Berlin, the way they had done several times in the past.

Although many people were gone on vacation to warmer, sunnier latitudes, there was quite a crowd. The weather cooperated with plenty of sun and practically no clouds, sending many visitors to take refuge in the shade of the trees.
There was a wide choice of food and snack, including the unmissable saté ayam and saté kambing (see above)—served with lontong, of course—as also mih bakso and siomay, etc.
Then there were such temptations as céndol, kuéh lapis, kuéh pisang, and not to forget the pandanus-green pancake rolls filled with palm sugar and shredded coconut (yumm).
There even was a reporter team from RBB (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg), and some of the footage they took was shown on TV on RBB–Fernsehen on the same day around 7:45 or 7:50 pm during the Abendschau.
